Are you fitting #selfcare into your daily schedule? Exercise is just one part of my self care routine, as it is something that brings me energy, focus, and helps me know that I have taken care of myself so I can better take care of others.
In my opinion, self care is also an act of independence, to take action for one’s own needs, and intentionally recognize that the self is a vital component of the world we live in, that we value our own well being along with the work we bring to our lives.
This Audre Lorde quote also resonates with me on a deep level: that any oppressed group of people who integrates their own care into their worlds, to believe in one’s own worth and take its value into personal priority, is both preservation of the self and pushing back against a system doing everything but caring.
